INVITATION LETTER
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I am pleased to announce the 7th International Symposium on Diabetic Neuropathy, scheduled to take place November 29-December 2, 2006, at The Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West, South Africa. We invite you to participate in this exciting symposium, which is an official symposium of the 19th World Diabetes Congress.
As we are all too well aware, diabetic complications present formidable challenges for global healthcare and research. Diabetic neuropathy inflicts a significant economic and quality-of-life burden on those afflicted with diabetes. The International Symposium on Diabetic Neuropathy provides a forum for the international collaboration that is essential for making advances in the delay of progression, management, and, eventually, prevention of diabetic neuropathy. As the global incidence of diabetes increases annually, it becomes even more necessary for an appropriate global response to address a disease that affects so many lives.
The 7th International Symposium on Diabetic Neuropathy will educate an international audience of scientists and clinicians, who are working in a wide variety of research and clinical settings on new initiatives and recent findings in autonomic, peripheral, and somatic neuropathy, gene therapy, and pathogenesis. For the first time, the meeting program also will include a focus on the diabetic foot, and all of the plenary sessions will offer CME credit. In addition, the symposium will provide a venue in which physicians and clinicians will have the opportunity to discuss concerns with colleagues and internationally renowned experts in diabetic neuropathy. We invite you to become a part of this important interaction and to join us in South Africa!
Warmest regards,

Aaron Vinik, MD, PhD, FCP, MACP Organizing Committee Chair, 7th International Symposium on Diabetic Neuropathy
